A Money-Saving Solution

There are two main types of air source heat pumps: air-to-air and air-to-water. Both operate by using/circulating air from outside and increasing the heat from it, but when it comes to providing that heat for your home, each channel utilises thermal energy in different ways.

Air-to-air heat pumps:

By simply increasing the air temperature from outside (using a refrigeration circuit) and using this to warm up the air inside, air-to-air heat pumps can keep your home warm and ventilated.

Air-to-water heat pumps:

Using the same principle, air can be used to heat up the water in your central heating system, which is then used to warm your rooms.

Different properties may be better suited to one type or the other. That’s where our experienced and professional heating specialists come in to provide you with detailed assessments and recommendations. This info will help you decide which kind of renewable heating system your property would suit most.

Lower Energy Bills

Air source heat pumps cost very little to run when designed and installed correctly, making them a great tool to future proof your finances against the ensuing cost-of-living crisis.

Low Emissions

Heat pumps are powered by electricity. Following the UK’s ever increasing transition to Net Zero and utilising the ever increasing, renewable energy such as wind farms, the power used to run the heat pumps is among some of the most carbon neutral and sustainable methods currently available.

Low Noise Pollution

Whenever ASHP systems are brought up, your mind may be drawn to the image of noisy, inefficient, and unreliable machines. Suffice to say, the new generation of ASHPs are not like that at all – they’re quiet, discrete, and – as long as they’re designed, installed and commissioned correctly – completely effective at warming properties to just the right temperature.

    What our customers say

    Client Reviews

If you’re still sceptical about the benefits of our smart heating solutions, hopefully, the words of our many happy customers will convince you!

An air source heat pump, sometimes referred to as an air-to-water source heat pump, transfers heat from the outside air to water, which heats your rooms via radiators or underfloor heating. It can also heat water stored in a hot water cylinder for your hot taps, showers and baths.

Heat from the air is absorbed into a fluid. This fluid then passes through a heat exchanger into the heat pump, which raises the temperature and then transfers that heat to water.

Air source heat pumps are highly efficient compared to traditional heating appliances. The efficiency of heat pumps can be measured using the Coefficient of Performance (COP) rating system, which refers to the output of heat from the environment relative to electrical power consumed. A COP rating of 3, which air source heat pumps typically have, means that for every one unit of electricity used, three units of heat are produced. That’s much more efficient than gas or oil boilers, which tend to rate less than 1 on the COP scale. In short, you’ll get much more heat for less energy expense by investing in ASHP systems! The fact that they’re environmentally-friendly and endlessly renewable certainly doesn’t hurt.

All of our air source heat pumps are built to last many years, so long as they are regularly maintained and serviced. A finely tuned ASHP system should last up to 20 years without needing to be replaced, which is in line with the expected lifespans of other heating systems like gas boilers and ground source heat pumps. To get the most out of your air source heat pump’s lifespan, it’s best to book annual service visits to ensure that it’s running at peak performance and maintains its manufacturer’s warranty period.

There are factors at play that can affect the overall price of an air source heat pump and its installation. On average, including installation costs, a domestic air source heat pump between 3-12kw can cost between £7,000 and £12,000 post the BUS £5,000 discount, though some more advanced models or additional upgrades, may be priced higher.
